Step 1: have 600 k that you don’t need to survive and gamble it in weekly calls
Thank you, my friend, you understand how the game is played. Diversify, but keep those eggs safe and separate. Now, kindly step aside, the markets await.
Why is it so bullish in here. Step on up ![img](emote|t5_2th52|51295)
Perhaps we should step back and ask ourselves why did they buy them when they did? Imagine back when they first opened up to the Western world. They were selling stuff and getting US dollars in return. What do those factory owners do with those dollars? They sell them to the Central bank or an intermediary bank in exchange stuff they need in China. Those banks in turn use those dollars in the US to buy treasuries which then go into their list of assets that back their currency. That was probably a critical part of their currency planning back in the day. Now the folks who made those kinds of choices are gone and their replacements are gone. The third or fourth generation is now looking at a different world and a different China. The days of getting a leg up being the workshop of the world are waning. There is a significant risk they are going to decouple from the West to a much greater degree and their economy is big enough that they dont need to use the US treasuries to prop up their currency. So imagine they are wanting to invade Taiwan in another 5-20 years. They know they will be fighting the US most likely. They know we use our economic power as a weapon against our enemies. They want to avoid that happening to them and if they view us as a foe there is decent chance they view stepping away from treasury purchases as a way of helping our system implode. Maybe they are right maybe they are wrong, but I could easily see them making that kind of calculation and running with it. Im sure there are a bunch of other internal factors that could play into the reasoning behind their decision, but it sure looks like they are dumping so much as letting them roll off and that suggests they arent in a terrible hurry to make move, but rather just getting on with a process that will take them a long time to complete.
One step closer to $25k
I'm a VERY new trader. 2 months in. My first hit was a BA put and OF COURSE it printed. Since then, I've made some decent, low risk, common sense plays; and, I've made some not so decent, more risk than they should have had, what I THOUGHT were common sense plays. Hindsight is typically 20/20, but I do feel very lucky to have learned a couple of things this week without getting fisted first: 1. Earnings reports are absolutely not guaranteed to move the needle one way or the other, no matter how obvious the direction might seem. 2. If it's a REALLY obvious play, there's a reasonable likelihood that not only did the big boys see it first, but they saw it from 100 yards away, and have already positioned themselves to take your money for being one step behind them. 3. Set up your moves as positions where you act, rather than positions where you feel like you have to react. As in poker, you don't want to find yourself throwing good money after bad. Also, after a couple of significant losses a few weeks ago, I've made it a point to regularly remind myself of one of the best pieces of advice I think I've ever read here on Reddit: No one ever went broke taking a profit. Don't tell the regards here I said this, but taking a $5 profit is better than getting Anna De Ville'd for a total loss (or worse). Take a break, get some rest, drink some water, and come back to the casino when you're ready.
I agree. Wish i had 455k to agree with you. I decided to put my meager dollars on the other stock that went down lock step with META for no reason. Bought 5/03 AMZN calls at $180 yesterday at SP $170. It's already at $180 AH. https://preview.redd.it/prgpsev1bqwc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a375c27478179b2d980be15e96645f6d7caae1fb
What are you doing behind the dumpster Step-bers? ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4259)
If tomorrow’s PCE data actually comes in right and we end on a green note I think I’m going to take that as a sign the universe is just trying to fuck me personally. Fucking whiplash from this week while still managing to make the wrong call damn near every step of the way.
Damn it bro, then step up! J/k, I envy your situation.
