Took a 31k pay cut to go public sector for the work life balance. New supervisor basically said it would be rare to work over 40 hours if that. I do have to drive in a few days a week, but honestly I could use getting out of the house and back to a pre covid routine. Job security.

Anecdotal experience isn’t really worth much. I’ve absolutely seen a decline in socal chipotles, won’t even go anymore when there’s a taco guy down the street selling better meat at like $10 a burrito. You might have the rare good manager at yours but most suck.

At the micro, individual car level, raw materials and other supply chain issues come to mind. As demand increases, rare metals will become even more scarce. At the societal level, I think energy anxiety is as big of an issue as range anxiety as it is often construed. That is, having lived in both Texas and California during periods of blackouts, it is hard to imagine our whole economy and system being reliant on the stability of the energy grids. Especially in areas with fires, floods, etc. Could you imagine living in south Florida with an EV in a world where everyone else also has an EV? I think plug in hybrids will be around for quite some time as the 30ish year successor to ICE.
