AMC vaulting 5% today. Here's what's happening:

Shares of Amc Entertainment Holdings Inc (AMC) are trading 5% higher at a price of $15.735 at the time of this writing. The price increase came on the back of news that the embattled movie theater chain had it's busiest weekend of 2022, fueled by newly released blockbusters in the Minions and Thor franchise films. Investors are hoping a deep bench of summer hits continue to bring moviegoers back to theaters.

Amc Entertainment Holdings Inc has been trading between a 52-week high of 52.79 and a 52-week low of 9.7. The stock has a market cap of $8.13 Billion.

AMC is the largest movie exhibition company in the United States, the largest in Europe and the largest throughout the world with approximately 1,000 theatres and 11,000 screens across the globe. AMC has propelled innovation in the exhibition industry by: deploying its Signature power-recliner seats; delivering enhanced food and beverage choices; generating greater guest engagement through its loyalty and subscription programs, web site and mobile apps; offering premium large format experiences and playing a wide variety of content including the latest Hollywood releases and independent programming.

As you can imagine, the internet had a few things to say about the price move. Here's a few choice comments from the Reddit Traderverse™:

I remember an Ape telling me AMC had strong fundamentals at $40. Wonder what fast food dumpster he’s behind today.

It's truly incredible the degree to which bagholders bend what is an obvious reality into something that seems like it will make any difference on the grand scale of a companies performance and worth. You guys are delusional and its getting to the point where its not even amusing. I played the AMC hype and made out lucky, but at the time the ape shit was really just a fun gag, at this point yall are just ridiculous lol
