The amount of people still talking about ‘limit up’ or ‘bounce incoming’ or similar is just mindblowing to me. We’re in for pretty much continuous dumping for the coming days if not weeks. Any mini rally will get sold off. There is nothing that suggests we bottom here. The fed is restricting the economy while a lot of analysts are doubting it would even meaningfully impact inflation. Beyond that oil and supply chains are still fucked. Spy is barely below the 385 where it was a month ago when .75 was ‘not on the table’ and inflation was supposed to be slowing. TLDR your stocks and calls are fucked and if you buy either you’re setting yourself up to get royally fucked as well

Feel like not enough anger and attention is being made to what the brokerages did to cripple that Redbox squeeze. They took away the buy and crippled the option chain the day before expiry. After printing their money as they collected premiums for the past month off of it. Someone got caught with their pants down, dick out, selling naked unhedged options that far exceeded the float and they once again get to change the rules mid fight once it became a problem this week.

You see that's the trap. With the job market being hot people believe they'll have no trouble getting another job, so they start extending themselves in debt. In the meantime the fed is actively trying to increase unemployment to tame inflation. Combine the two and people will find themselves unemployed just as they've taken on more debt. Sweet

This is the correct take. The Fed has TONS of room to raise prime rates when compared to the early 1980’s. This will ultimately lead to a recession, unemployment, and a massive correction in multiple markets but it should curb inflation and hopefully force a correction to the housing market too. Buy puts, hold cash, and buy the dip in discounted stocks next until 2024 imo.

"if it's not hurting it's not working" The only way to stop inflation is to cause unemployment, stop wages/costs spiralling. That's what interest rate rises do. 2008 was a different crisis with different causes.
