I kinda wish we had an expert on mRNA vaccines around on social media. It’d be helpful if there was one who could voice his opinion based on knowledge and experience. Unfortunately, too many have been de-platformed due to their skepticism.

Usually, but this is essentially the first time we’ve seen an MRNA vaccine on such a large scale before. Usually we stick either an entire virus particle into you or attach an important viral protein to an extremely immunogenic compound. Both of those (the normal way) can cause a lot of issues even with minor changes. The original boosters were essentially the first massive scale trial of the technology and they turned out to be relatively benign, because of the way the mRNA development process works, there aren’t many more safety issues we’re concerned about. A very legitimate concern is that they’re not going to be very effective - they might have minimal benefit, at worst - but they won’t cause much real harm besides the pain of getting a shot and that day of feeling sick post-shot.
