A securid token works by generating a one-time code that changes every 60 seconds, based on a shared secret "seed" value and the token's internal clock. The server authenticating your log in request knows the correct code because it has the same shared seed value and uses its own clock to generate the exact same tokencode at the same time.  It's not random. If it was random it wouldn't serve any purpose for authentication because what would you check the random value against?  It doesn't make any sense. Random number generators are useful for cryptography when you need to generate something unpredictable like a key, but not at all in the way you're describing.

Very true! My best friend’s dad passed away a couple of years ago. He was a seed farmer in Saskatchewan. She inherited over $3 million cash & hasn’t even sold the land yet. He did drive a nice truck with all the bells & whistles. I’d never seen an F150 with leather seats before.
