I don't think you guys understand how difficult trading stocks was prior to around 2007. This was just not something that ordinary people did; it was done by financial pros in New York and Chicago or you were getting stocks as compensation from your employer. Brokerage fees were high, and long distance calling was expensive too. Internet trading platforms weren't really a thing yet, and if they were they still had high fees. If you were buying and selling shares as a regular joe in the 90's you were autistic as fuck. Just some food for thought before you blame your parents for not being gazillionaires because they didn't S&P and chill throughout the 80's and 90's (which is also a relatively new concept, back in the day people didn't know if shit was going to collapse and never recover again like it did in Japan for decades).
