\> 200k/year just existing On... what? I'm in a fairly HCOL area (people pay 4-5k / month for rent for a home to rent - cheaper for townhomes / condos) and dual incomes survive off \~100k / annum. I know people who are living off less. Personally I live off \~10k / month - but I own my home. I'm far above the "regular" thresholds tho - as I eat out \~10 times a week and blow a lot of money at the bar. 90% of my expenses come from eating out / doing recreational activies / hobbies \--- You can survive without issues with < $1k / month for food (many people do < $500 / month, cook at home) and \~2-3k in rent. \--- People living off 200k+ and living paycheque to paycheque are living beyond their means (in the moment) imo. \--- Care to breakdown where \~16k / month goes?
