I agree with you on most of this, but it’s a documented fact that the leadership that has been assassinated like the previous Ayatollah and Ali Larijani were moderating forces who, in the past flare ups, have been the ones to consistently take the off-ramps and deescalate. Like hitting pre-arranged spots with warning to the US in advance. They’re the ones who push for negotiations, they’re the ones who instituted the fatwa against building a nuclear weapon. I agree with you that Israel is the belligerent aggressor. Israel knows the previous leaders were the moderates, and knows the subordinate commanders are much more hardline. Which is why they assassinated all the people who’d be more willing to negotiate and de-escalate. Because they want this to spiral out of control to the point the US has no option but to commit fully. I agree that Iran has no choice but self-defense. I think the surviving leadership of the IRGC being more hardline and zealous is a large reason *why* they’ve been willing to take unprecedented steps in that defense like closing the Strait. I think Khamenei would’ve tried to find an de-escalation point by now. Because again, it’s been widely reported both in Western press that the IRGC guys in charge now are more zealous than they were before. This was the assessment of the CIA before the war even started and why they were advising against any decapitation strikes. Clearly they lost that internal battle and that’s why they leaked their assessment to the Wall Street Journal like 2 days before the first strikes. Of course they don’t *want* to die. I never said they did. But the truth is that being martyred by the West in a righteous war of defense is how they’d probably *choose* to die if they had to. Which is why it’s going to be very hard to negotiate with them. The threat is existential and they have nothing to lose.

There were no tens of thousands who died, that was blasted from Israeli media to try and drum up a causus belli for this unprovoked war that we now know was coming. Definitely people died, but there were CIA/Mossad provocateurs.

I know what you're saying, it's still racist rhetoric, originating from Zionists (Golda Meir said "we hate the Palestinians because they made us kill their children"). These governments, and their people, are under threat of annihilation from the west. Look at Iraq, Vietnam, Gaza. Millions slaughtered by Western bombs. Iran will end up the same if they don't stand up for themselves, and that's the Iranians strategy right now, make an invasion untenable for the West, it's to save lives.
