that's not how it works though. you're implying rangebound trading days. that only matters as you described it if youre playing 0dte options. if you have shares and arent poor it didnt matter/doesnt matter and timeline-wise by the time that environment did set in, we were already recovered off the bottom and were trading the middle between the top and the bottom of the gfc. so while below the temporary ATH it was also well above the low from the downturn. not to mention we cleared above the previous highs within a reasonably short amount of time and the range trading prior offered opportunity to rebalance and add new names for the long term.
