Because becoming proficient at trading stocks and options is more lucrative and sane than NBA gambling by a degree that is difficult to quantify. And if I lose my gambling assets the government definitely isn't seeing that as a write off. I have picked great stocks in the past, I've had my wins, then I flail about for a bit. I have no consistency and I realized it's because I lacked structure or a toolset which I apply towards gambling. I mean lets be real- would you rather learn your kid is getting real good at NBA props or real good at timing the market? But yes I am scaling up right now. It spooks me bad but it is what it is. In this economy just doing everything I can to build a future for myself. Still we're talking big differences in income potential. I can put $2k on a prop with even odds and make $2k. I can also lose that money instantly when a guy stubs his toe in the first minute, team gets blown out, etc. You can't cash out when that starts. It's all or nothing. I can watch SPY stub it's toe on a tweet and cash out and take a 30% loss, then move back into something else. I can get 20% off the win and cash out if I see the proverbial blowout coming. That's the issue. It's more fluid than just putting money down and coming back later. Although it's easier on the heart.

Yeah these AI models come and go. Its just a matter of time before another Deepseek moment and well get a model to run locally for free. AI companies that are building gigantic datacenters are going to get fucked when the paid demand never reaches the levels they hoped for.
