You felt like a failure because you have a gambling problem. Notice I didn’t use past tense. You’re currently in a better position than the vast majority of people your age. You don’t need to take risks with any of this money, so don’t. Put it somewhere safe like SPY or VOO and let it grow while continuing to add to it. Consider locking some of it by putting it in an IRA. You sound like you’re gonna wind up doing it all again once the trauma settles and you feel secure again.

You treated this like gambling instead of actually learning how to TRADE. The fact you have an allowance and even the $1K is a lot better than some people. Quit playing the victim and grow up. Maybe lose the allowance and get a job so you can learn instead of being handed everything. Let’s use that big thing in our head called a brain and figure it out, instead of looking for remorse from random Reddit OPs. Maybe, I don’t know, financially literacy courses, or gee maybe a lesson on trading and chart markups….People like you are why I only go on this over opinionated, braindead app once a week. At least you know you deserved it. Final remarks: I’ll look at responses next week if this post doesn’t get too much ‘snowflake hate’ prior. But, as someone who’s experienced the volatility of the market, had businesses go under, filed bankruptcy, made, spent, lost millions, all before the age of 25. Sitting here at 26 I can proudly say, focusing on your inward and not your outward does numbers. Quit looking for outside answers and look at the mirror.
